Important Policies All Homeowners Should Know

Master Valve

Every building or premise served by a sewer and water service line shall have a master valve installed to the house or building at the expense of the owner in addition to the District valve so that the occupant or owner can shut off the water supply to the building or premise without using the District valve, or requiring the District to shut off the sewer and water to the property for any purpose.  Make sure you have your own valve installed!

Do Not Enter Meter Pits

Do not enter District meter pits for any reason.  Meter pits are owned and maintained by McGill Ruth Sewer & Water District and only District personnel are allowed to enter the pits.

Only Homeowners are Recognized Account Holders

Property owners who have rentals are responsible for the water bill.  The account remains in the homeowners name, and cannot be placed in the tenants name.  We recommend all customers with rental property collect the water bill with the rent.  Renters can pay the bill, but no billings will be sent to them as the account belongs to the homeowner.
